What is 420 On The Block? Simply put, 420 On The Block is the biggest, highest block party Denver has ever seen. It’s a multi-venue event celebrating April 20th in Denver, CO along South Broadway.
Kicking off at 4:20pm on 4/20, the block party will feature the best musicians, artists, activists, vendors and more. The festival is billing itself as Denver’s largest gathering to celebrate the Cannabis Community in a big way. One pass gets you into all venues, and there will also be a two story marketplace in City Hall, comedy in the Living Room and many speakers, as well as the chance to rub shoulders with celebs and industry titans at meet and greet opportunities all along the way.
Who’s Who at 420 On The Block
Three cannabis industry leaders, The Green Solution, THC Magazine, and Incredibles, have banded together to bring a unique format to the 420 festivities this year. Partnering with CoClubs, The Church, Bar Standard, The Living Room, City Hall, Milk Bar, and Vinyl, this event will be a fully immersive setting for cannabis culture in 2017. Not only will attendees enjoy performances from bass-blasting acts like Rusko, Dumpstaphunk, J Phlip, Del The Funky Homosapien, Don Carlos, Cut Chemist, Invisibl Skratch Picklz, Blockhead, and Phaeleh, but there will be live art, glass blowing, a full marketplace featuring the top cannabis brands, comedy and more. Each venue will feature a specific atmosphere so you can go from venue to venue depending on your mood.
Get on Board the FREE 420 Shuttles
My 420 is all about safe, legal, mind-blowing cannabis events in Denver. To help celebrate the inaugural 420 On The Block, we’ll be powering a fleet of limo-style party buses to shuttle ticket-holders along South Broadway from one SOCO venue to the next. The best part — passengers are free to consume on board the buses and take the evening higher with every stop on the route. We’re doing our part to make this event crazy memorable, legal, and safe all at the same time. No need to drive, no need to consume in public. Just get on board and breathe in the 420 atmosphere.
420 On The Block is new to the neighborhood
In the dozens of events in Denver for 420, some have become traditions since the beginning of dawn of recreational legalization in 2013. Not this one. 420 On The Block is the new kid on the block. So, why create a new 420 event this year? David Maddalena, CEO of THC Magazine said, “We felt it was time to make the largest party in Colorado be put on by Colorado grown companies. The Green Solution, Incredibles and THC Magazine are all industry OG’s. It is time we took 420 back to our roots.”
Filling the Cannabis Cup void
Until 2016, High Times Magazine’s Cannabis Cup was the flagship 420 event in Denver. But due to snafus in zoning and permits from Adams County, High Times will not hold Cannabis Cup in Denver in 2017, relocating to SoCal instead for the 420 celebrations. Director of marketing at incredibles Lily Colley is thrilled to follow the Cannabis Cup’s footsteps. “We saw an opportunity in the void that was left,” Colley commented to Westword. “There is a bigger message that music and creativity and cannabis are the future, and it’s about breaking that paradigm and showing that these companies are professional, well-established, and there’s a reason they are the market leaders.”
The organizers agree that this is the perfect year for industry leaders to come together and see how far they’ve come since the early days of legalization in Colorado. “Solidarity in this industry is how we all will rise together,” Colley added. “We want to reclaim 4/20 for Denver.” With this spirit of collaboration and community, it’s highly likely that 420 On The Block will become Denver’s definitive 4/20 festival for years to come.
